It was in or about 1660, during the early years of Christianity in the Philippines, that the "Simbang Gabi" or the "Misa de Gallo" became a Filipino religious tradition. During the old times, the pre-dawn mass is announced by the ringing of the church bells. In some rural areas, an hour before the start of Simbang Gabi, a brass band plays Christmas music all over the town. The Filipino immigrants brought this tradition with them when thay came to the United States. Since it is not practical to hold a celebration at dawn, the cold December weather will not allow it, local parishes hold the celebration at night. While the form of the celebration is changed, the substance remains.

Google chrome to the rescue!

When I'm new with the entrecard thing, I got frustrated because of slow browser that I had. Before I used Internet Explorer and firefox, it pissed me off always because it took ages to load (wheew). My friend always told me to the download Google chrome she said fast and quick loading. At first I said nah it will take a long time for me to download that google chrome and besides I never heard from that before.

My little garden

My little parsley are growing faster everyday, It's ready for harvest I never try it but I will soon. I was lazy to water them everyday, but when I saw it growing I'll see to it ill water it once in a while. I've been very busy, so I forgot to water it everyday. But now the weather is good it rains a lot so I don't have to water it everyday (lol). I plant tomatoes but it takes long, so i guess I'm a bit inspired of my gardening because of my huge parsley (lol).

Biko

I baked biko last saturday for our party, my friend gave me this recipe this is my first time cooking biko . Here are the ingredients.

2 cups malagkit, 3/4 cup cups sugar, 3 1/2 cups coconut milk, 1/8 butter, 1 egg beaten

toppings: 1 can condensed milk, 3/4 cup rich coconut milk- use the frozen, 2-3 tbsp. flour for quick thickening.

Method: Boil rice and coconut in heavy pot stirring constantly (15-20 mins.). When the rice is done and almost dry lower the heat and add sugar and butter. Mix well and set aside. Spread the rice misture in a well buttered pan and bake in a preheated 300 for 2o minutes. Meanwhile prepare the topping combine all topping ingredients in a sauce pan and cook over low heat stirring constantly until thick (25 minutes). Pour topping over the rice mixture in dish. Increase heat to 350. Bake until top is brown about 15 minutes.

Had my TB skin test NEGATIVE!

I had TB skin test last Tuesday, one of the requirements for the school I'm going in is to have TB skin test. I went back at the health center yesterday again for checking. Thank God I'm negative, I thought it turns out positive. Because I was exposed with person with TB. It can't be avoided I'm exposed someone has TB because I'm a nursing student it is expected that I'm exposed. People get it wrong about TB test, they would think that you are positive of TB. NO it's not! it means that you are prone or you had been exposed to someone with has TB. And because of low immune system they want you to take medications for 9 months.

I never know about Holodomor, when I browsed it online Holodomor it is the name given in modern Ukraine to a famine that took place during the 1932-1933. Before the genocide the name Ukrain means a borderland and was first given to the frontier lands round the Kiev in the 12th centruy. When I seen the videos of Holodomor it was horrible I'm very pity with the kids. They are very skinny and looks like malnourished. The Holodomor literally known as death by hunger, This is very touching story and memorable from the people of Ukraine.

My heart was touched of this story seeing those pictures collecting the corpses of famine victims or they called as corpse collecting group. Many millions of people were dying in Ukraine. Seeing those little kids dying for hunger it makes me cry. I would look for this movie about Holodomor to learn more about the history. The reporters are giving information but the world didn't notice. How people in Ukraine are suffering from hunger. Some of them were collapse and die in the fields as they worked. People in Ukraine will always remembered this kind of tragedy. That no one will ever forget, the horrible happened the famine victims.

I got my learner's permit

I just had my written test exam yesterday for my driver learner's permit. The requirements that I shown are my Green Card, marriage certificate and Social Security. The clerk gave me a priority number, I'm grateful it's not busy during that day. After 3 minutes of waiting my number flashed on the screen. So she tested me for eye test and asked for my valid I.D.

I gave my green card and paid for two dollars. And hand me down the length wise of answer sheet of paper, pencil and set of 30 questions (wheww)!. I'm a bit nervous (lol) so when I read the first question, actually it is really easy a common sense questions and tricky one. I prepared myself I read the manual before I took the test. And It;s worth it coz I passed grrrr I got 2 mistakes out of 30, I paid 12 dollar for my I.D and now I'm ready for hands on.
